South Park's first HD episode hits Xbox Live tomorrow
The Xbox Live Video Marketplace is getting some of the truly compelling content we've been waiting for, as Wired is reporting that the first high definition episode of South Park will be available for download tomorrow. At the incredibly great price of free -- for the first two weeks -- all Xbox Live members can download the "Good times with Weapons" episode. If you for some reason don't have a 360, or don't have the internet and are reading this via teletype, Best Buy will also be making the episode available on HD DVD discs free with the purchase of an Xbox 360 or the HD DVD add-on between March 20th and April 3rd. Animated TV shows have been missing in HD for too long, hopefully we'll see more of those and more HD content on XBLM -- like HD Battlestar Galactica episodes we don't have to wait 6 months to see, as suggested by our friends at Joystiq.[Via Joystiq]

Is it really going to make any difference in picture to see South Park in HD?
If BG came out in HD on Live before I watch it on my DVR (the next day), I'd buy it every week.
South Park is all done on computers so rendering the episodes for HD should improve the quality. Will it be an "Oh Wow" moment maybe not, but for the first couple of weeks the investment to try it out cost nothing for existing XBL users
I also have to commend Comedy Central for doing these free episodes out to XBL users. It allows people to try out the download service and decide for themselves if it is worth an investment.
Now I just need to clear off a demo I have not played in six months to fit it in.
They picked a very good episode for this. One of my favorites. The shuriken scene is classic.
"Waaaaahhhhhhh" - Professor Chaos
Wow, I've always wanted a chance to BUY something that I could just watch for free on cable.
Could someone explain to me why I would want to BUY this? I'm scratching my head, looking for a reason and it's just not coming.
Hey supaneko, remember to read the whole story before you post your comment. "At the incredibly great price of free all Xbox Live members can download the episode"
Wow, I'm really looking forward to seeing mostly uniformly colored areas in higher resolution!
Seriously, when I'm watching a crummy torrent of SP, after 10 seconds I don't even realize anymore that the resolution is 'only' 512x384. If sharper lines would be essential to the enjoyment of a cartoon, I wouldn't even want to watch it.
