Discovery's Planet Earth's premier killed on Sunday night

We're thinking that our check got lost in the mail Discovery. You know we pimped your new Planet Earth program pretty heavily over here on Engadget HD and we must of had something to do with the 12 million viewers that tuned in on Sunday night. Sure, you had commercial spots like every 15 minutes or so for the last umpteen-months but both you and us know that our dedication to HDTV had a lot to do with your household penetration. 15% of your viewers where watching on their HDTV via your Discovery HD Theater station so we just wanted to let you know that our suits upstairs are expecting a nice, fat check sometime soon - boating season is here and they need a new (insert a boating gizmo here) for their yachts.
if you get money for it then so do 60 million other people!
it was made with the BBC which is paid for by the public here in Britain, so you may have "pimped it", but we paid for it to be made!
So... it was not shown? I thought I missed the premier. I see on their website that next Sunday 4/1/07, they will be airing two episodes... Desert and Ice Worlds.
Am I in luck and can catch the premier on 4/1/07?

It is an awesome looking show on HD. Surprises me that it did those type of numbers. If I hear someone mention that it was shown on BBC or Canadian television first again though.....

Yeah, I've been meaning to tell you that when you said "Go set your DVR, I'll wait," I really did go and do that. And, of course, it was so worth it.
Wonder which look's better? HD Cable (Cablevision) or DirecTV (SAT)?
I've shown at least three people the slo-mo shark scene and the eagles vs. goose scene that I DVR'd on my 65" Mits. The wondering baby elephant almost made me cry. Awesome show that I cannot recommend highly enough.
Just an awesome show cinematography-wise. Really made me wish I had a big, wall covering TV instead of my puny 27" Samsung. Once it hits Blu-Ray and/or HD-DVD I think it's destined to become standard reference footage for testing TVs.
I was stunned and amazed (amazed, I say) that David Attenborough's narration from the original BBC broacast was replaced by Sigourney Weaver's. I like Sigourney, but her narration pales (pales, I say) in comparison to the original narration. David is fracking famous for his skills as a narrator and he's deeply associated with these projects. Why don't we just get Cindy Lauper's voice to replace James Earl Jones' version of "This is CNN." The episode felt eviscerated and narcotized. Seek out the original.
I should mention that you can already order the HD-DVD and Blu-Ray versions of the complete series from Amazon, for release on April 24. And--woohoo!--it'll include both David Attenborough's and Sigourney Weaver's narration. Nice.
David Attenborough FTW!!! This aired on BBC last year BTW.
I have heard the Sigourney Weaver version and the David Attenborough version and have to admit that the Attenborough version was more fitting to the subject matter. Regardless of the narration It is an amazing production!

I think they likely paid Oprah for an endorsement and didn't have any money left for you. She did a whole show on it, calling it the best thing she's ever seen on television. Seriously.
Funny that Discovery isn't mentioning it's a BBC show. And they did new voiceovers with Sigourney Weaver. BBC is awesome and should get some respect is all.
Roquentin, where did you see that the HD disc version comes with both narrations? I mean, that would be *great*, but I don't see anywhere on Amazon where it says that.
