Cable gets Extra Innings too

Major League Baseball and In Demand struck a deal that will bring MLB Extra Innings to cable subscribers everywhere. A few weeks ago it appeared that DirecTV might have had another exclusive to add to the NFL Sunday Ticket package, but this deal brings relief to baseball fans with Series 3s everywhere. To date, Echostar has yet to get a deal done, but with only a few days into the 2007 season there is still time left before all of the 162 games are played.
This is great, was already watching a game last night. Its amazing that they can flick a switch and make it happen. I would guess InDemand viewers will be stuck with another season of SD content. At this point I'm just happy to no have to watch the 700kb stream through my laptop and VGA out to my TV.
Undoubtedly this will mean TWC-NYC will allow it in a small neighborhood in Queens and freeze out all the other customers it has in the rest of the city.
Assuming TWC is part of this in the first place...
What are you talking about? This will be all TWC customers. TWC is part of the consortium of cable companies that own InDemand. I live in Brooklyn and have TWC and got the game yesterday.
I can't believe the play this thing got. This affected - relatively - so few people anyways! It was a free-market decision after-all had it stayed solely w/ DTV. This would have negatively affected about 200,000 people nationwide - and a lot of those could have gone to DTV.
What exactly was the big deal, other than for John Kerry to try to make himself feel remotely relevant again?
Does anyone know if Cablevision is close to working out a deal. I'm pretty sure they are not part of that conglomerate.

Cablevision is not an owner of InDemand, but it has subscribed to the feed in past years and offered it as a separately priced package to its digital cable customers. The latest reports show that Cablevision is interested in offering Extra Innings this year but has not concluded its own agreement to do so. Because Cablevision is not seeking any eqity in the Baseball Channel, I would expect that the negotiation might not be too difficult, but who knows?
Does anyone know if Verizon FIOS is going to carry the MLB package?
I hope Bright House Network would get into this too...
