Honestly, if you can't provide a source for your own information then you are a worse journalist than the person who omitted possible information because he did not know.

That is assuming you consider yourself a journalist, which I'd assume so considering your condescending comment left above. If you don't have a source then it does not exist, Ben did not have a source that said Sony would replace 5th Element Blu Ray discs and therefor he did not mention it in his blog.

HOUSE OF FLYING DAGGERS - this excellent film on Blu-ray features a stunning uncompressed PCM soundtrack, wedded to absolutely mediocre picture quality!

The image is so soft, that you're forced to use the "sharpness" control, something you should never have to do with either HD-DVD or Blu-ray discs.

I remember last year when I was at CompUSA they had the 5th Element on display in the Blu-Ray format. I didn't know it was used as a reference disc as stated above, but I remember saying to myself, "This looks like sh*t." And I remember telling that to the sales guy as he tried to come up with some lame excuse.

Although, I wasn't in the market to purchase one I left the store perfectly content with my DVD player.

The disc will come as a BD-50, encoded with AVC, and have two lossless/uncompressed audio tracks: the same PCM track from the original release (which was quite excellent) and a 20-bit Dolby TrueHD track. The extras remain the same, but the film has been remastered for a cleaner/crisper video experience.

Right now, Sony is taking down your name, mailing address, and phone number and will contact you closer to the release of the remastered version on how to exchange your disc.
