You can get nice, decent sized screens for about $50 (I've told people that before, but for some reason most people contradict me because they seem to think that projector screens are $1000!).

RYAN LESTER!!!

Comments on Calling the shot: mounting / not mounting flat-panel above fireplace

I would hate having the TV sitting up that high. I have my 40" lcd above my fireplace, the center of which is 6ft from the ground, and it's a perfectly natural feel to sit and watch it. As for the projector, screens don't look as cool as a tv, and ambient light will really kill the picture unless you spend upwards of $5,000

noimjosh

Comments on Calling the shot: mounting / not mounting flat-panel above fireplace

My parents have been talking about putting a TV above the fireplace, expect only a little higher due to the mantle about my fireplace. I told them how bad it would be to look up at to watch TV and how the wires would probably have to be all over the place. I live in an a 2 story apartment and have neighbors living on one side. Now with out aggravating the land lord and messing up the walls, any one have any suggesting on how I can go about mounting my 42" LCD to the wall, pluss what to do with my Reciver and Xbox 360? Pointing me to a website would be much appreciated.

MRacca

Comments on Calling the shot: mounting / not mounting flat-panel above fireplace

For how my living room is arranged I'm going to have to put the plasma above the fireplace. Right now I've got a 65" RPTV on the opposite wall from the fireplace and my main couch completely covering up the fireplace. The wife would like to actually use the fireplace at some point. Plus we want to sell the house in a few years and we feel a plasma hanging on the wall will spruce things up more than the gigantic RPTV sitting in the room. I don't know if I'm going to run all the wires through the wall. It would make things look a lot cleaner but I don't think it's feasible in our situation. Lukily for us though all the equipment is in the basement so only the tv and speakers will be visible in the living room.

Alex
