how high you have to look depends on the distance back from the fireplace/tv and the height at which it is hung. I have my 40" lcd above my fireplace, the center of which is 6ft from the ground, and it's a perfectly natural feel to sit and watch it. As for the projector, screens don't look as cool as a tv, and ambient light will really kill the picture unless you spend upwards of $5,000
