We normally leave this type of news to TVSquad, but we know
this is a big favorite of HD fans everywhere. Like so many of our favorite shows, they can't go on forever -- at least not without jumping the shark -- and just like
Lost, the producers have decided when the story will end. While we haven't forgave Sci-Fi for making us wait so long to enjoy the HD version of the show, we do respect the producers decision to end the show when they were done telling their story. So, in November the fourth and final season of 22 episodes will begin with a two hour season premier on Sci-Fi, and as usual we will probably have to wait another 6 months to enjoy it in HD on
Universal HD.
Say it isn't so :(
This show is like the best thing on TV, ever. They easily could of done at least a couple of more seasons...
As it began so too does it end: a true "Mini-Series"
I thought that one HAD to have at least 100 episodes for syndication, and syndication is where the money usually is at. By ending it after 4, I don't think they reach the 100 mark...
Oh well, at least Starbuck is back!
What is this syndication thing again? Does it happen after the DVDs? But seriously, the syndication demand is soon going to be "HD CONTENT!!" before it's "100 episodes."
Hmm... November is plenty far enough away to get SciFiHD up and running. Assuming DirecTV 10 launches in July.
Not confirmed to be the last season.

Are you late to the party? Why don't you have a link to your source?
A couple of things about this post. First, the season premiere is NOT in November. I believe that will be when the two hour movie special about the Pegasus will air. Sci Fi and the the Season Finale clearly indicate that BSG will not be back until 2008.
As for HD, by then we should be getting Sci Fi Channel in HD on DirecTV. It's in their list of new HD Channels that are suppose to go online in September.
I'm depressed now :( I may just cancel my cable TV after season 4 and save myself $70/m.
Actually, it's confirmed here: http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire/index.php?category=0&id=41709
Too bad. I love this show.
awe crap. my bad. so sad now.
The source is on the link that says "Read" at the bottom of the post.
Actually Kraig, you are not 100% correct.
Technically the two hour movie in the fall IS NOT a season 4 premiere but it is being used to set up bits for Season 4. Also, it is budgeted as part of the season 4 22 episode run so in one way it can be considered a season opener.
Reading between the lines of the second SciFi press release:
"Um, after Edward James Olmos made those comments about season 4, we sat down with him. He said that he didn't care what creative decision we made, after next season he's done, because he 'ain't going out like Will Shatner' and spending the next 20 years at SciFi conventions (actually, he said 'nerd herds,' but we knew what he meant). We can't argue with that logic. And since a fifth season without the Admiral would be completely implausible, we punted."
;-)
This is a great show. I've watched all the DVDs and bought season 3 on iTunes (no cable or sat right now).
I'd buy the HD DVDs, but its quite an investment for a format I don't feel will win out. Hopefully Universal will come to their senses and put these on Blu-ray as well. Everyone wins!
Battlestar Galactica is such a great show! I'm surprised they didn't decide to just cancel it. ;)
Is "Battlestar Galatica" the same as Battlestar Galactica? Cuz, I've never heard of or watched the Galatica show.
"we do respect the producers decision to end the show when they were done telling their story."
I think they were done telling their story when Season 1 ended.
