Wtf are you smoking? It's Toshiba, HP, Microsoft, Intel, Kenwood, RCA, Sanyo, NEC. They are all HD DVD. They have exclusive support from Universal (plus subsidiaries), Weinstein Company and First Look Studios. The Non-exclusive HD DVD support for the player is: Hitachi, LG, Lite On, Onkyo, Meridan, Samsung, and Alpine. The format is non-exclusively backed by Paramount Pictures, DreamWorks, Warner Bros. Pictures, Warner Music Group, New Line Cinema, HBO, Studio Canal, and Image Entertainment (including the Discovery Channel), Magnolia Pictures, Brentwood Home Video, Ryko, Koch/Goldhil Entertainment.
This war is a bunch of crap. The only 3 major studios Blu-ray has is Columbia Pictures, 20th Century Fox, and Disney. (Plus subsidiaries) I love it when people say Blu-ray has a a crap load of more studio support. Wow, 2 more major studios! That's amazing. People over-exaggerate this war on both sides.
Out of everyone you named...lets be realistic Toshiba, RCA (i wonder how many of these they've actually sold, w/ the except of those who shop at walmart, does anyone buy their products anymore?) and Microsoft w/ hardware. LG is semi supportive. As far as studios Paramount, Universal, and WB...thats really it. Why would you even bother to name manufacturers/movie studios who support hd-dvd that don't even have equipment/titles out. they're not helping the struggle a bit
Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.
