How in the world can Blu-Ray and HD-DVD be MORE reliable than DVD when they have a much higher data density? You're renting movies. Of course there'll be problems. Not every customer takes good care of the rented movies like you do.

And you're talking about DVD also. This is HD-DVD and Blu-Ray. I don't know if HD-DVDs have this problem, but it seems only this one movie does for the Blu-Ray discs. It's probably a faulty manufacture. Something messed up. It can happen on any disc.

So just because one company made a small mistake, you can't take it out on the whole format and every other company that has done it right. I agree ckelly. I do not have a side I just which that one format wins and that's it, but if the winning format is blu-ray and this kind of problems happen, that's not to good is it? Also blu-ray is not to big in europe believe that, if you want to watch the latest blu-ray titles you must have a region A (region 1) player ( because of region coding ). I got a toshiba HD DVD player and I can get my movies from anywhere (cheaper). If blu-ray is to wins the format war it's not only by having disney ( well if they stay, specialy after that comment sony made: stating spiderman 3 made a best result than pirates 3 ). Rot on discs what's next blu-ray? PS: To any blu-ray fanboy do not jump on me I support both formats and as a potential buyer I have to see the good and the bad in both formats, so keep your comments for yourself.

You are only a HD-DVD fan and i dont wanna jump over you but can you prove for me you have a defected BD rather than commenting and saying this maybe true.

first of all all discs are subject rot, BD's don't rot for no reason. That disc was probably put in a bad area (places where cds, dvds are not recommended to be, areas where it gets too cold or too hot or above the preferred operating parameters)

I can't believe your reaction to this news.
