When we expand out to the Top 20 grossing films to date, we see that 11 of the Top 20 Grossing films are Blu-ray exclusives and only 2 are HD-DVD exclusives. Blu-ray has available to it 18 of the Top 20 grossing films to date, while HD-DVD has only 9. Yeah, the holiday season is going to be tremendous for HD-DVD.
-------------------------------------

Mr_Fizzlepop

Comments on Every Blu-ray statistic you could ever crave

You fail to notice sir that all the talk about Blu-Ray having more studio support is completely BS. The ONLY studio by these numbers that is actually releasing Blu-Ray exclusive titles is Sony. Others are pretty much a few percent here and there. You see, Warner is the major Blu-Ray movie releaser just after Sony and I'm sorry to burst everyone's bubble but all of their titles are available on HD DVD too with the exception of few that are still not available on Blu-ray.

So this SUPER advantage of Blu-Ray in studio support is as it seems just hype.

You seem to forget to sir, that HD DVD doesn't need EXCLUSIVE studios, they just need the existing studios to go neutral as most of them are. The cheaper hardware, bigger PC support and no regional coding will do that rest and ensure a win. Ok so those Blockbuster movies of the moment are mostly coming from Sony, but this is just temporary situation. There's a lot of blockbuster movies soon to come out from Universal, Warner and other big players that will also be availablef for HD DVD.

I have both technologies (BD and HD DVD) in my home, and I just fail to see why a consumer should pay more for pretty much the same thing, not to mention an absolute monopoly Sony is trying to create by closing the circle with hardware, movies and their propriatery format. This is a BIG no no and a very bad sign for the future of movie enthusiasts. Secondly, even some of Sony's Blu-Ray only titles in the US are available on HD DVD in Europe as HD DVD hold a significant advantage there. So, you know what, I wish I knew this sooner, as I would buy Underworld for example on HD DVD and just pay for import to US. Since it's HD DVD, no regional coding WHOOWHOO..

Nfinity

Comments on Every Blu-ray statistic you could ever crave

B - E - A utiful!

Rick wilson

Comments on Every Blu-ray statistic you could ever crave

Considering there are 4 million blu-ray players (including ps3) available worldwide and only 300,000 HD DVD players currently, blu-ray has a 13 to 1 ratio over HD in hardware. With that kind of hardware lead I would consider it a complete failure that they are hardly selling more then HD DVD in software... So why is there such a low attach rate for blu-ray?

Tom

Comments on Every Blu-ray statistic you could ever crave

Nfinity: hahaha, other exclusive bd partners are only a "few percent"??
