Following up on the expected arrival of
Cars on Blu-ray,
VideoBusiness reports Disney has officially announced that
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End will hit DVD and Blu-ray simultaneously December 4th. The two disc Blu-ray (one dual-layer, one single-layer) set has an SRP of $35.99 -- only a dollar over the comparable DVD package -- and feature the numerous extras all re-mastered in HD, as well as a
BD-J special interactive feature,
Enter the Maelstrom. The company expects this set to follow up on the highly successful DVD releases of the first two movies in the series which also debuted in the first week of December.
$34.99 for a DVD? What do they think this is, LOTR extended edition? It didn't even compare to the first, and I'd flip a coin if it was better then the second, which ain't saying much.
This wow, for 1 more dollar I could get the hi-def BR with so much more so I may as well pick allegience might work if it was a good movie. I have a feeling it will work about as well trying to sell reading glasses to the blind.
$35 for a BluRay OR DVD is ridiculous, but when people buy it (by the millions, probably!), you can't blame Disney for leeching millions off the idiodic public. Yaahh, Capitalism! lol
Neither of the "Pirates" sequels holds up to the original, which was an amazing and pleasant surprise, but "At World's End" was even more confusing than "Dead Man's Chest" and harder to stay awake through. Blockbuster films don't necessarily convey quality or even a desire to own on any format. Case in point: the $200+ million Affleck/Willis spectacle known as "Armageddon;" both "Fantastic Four" movies; and "Ghost Rider," featuring Nicolas Cage and his computer-generated abs.
"Casino Royale," now THAT'S a movie worth owning. News flash: these are just my opinions; no need to start another format debate (again).
Dude, it's ALWAYS time to start another format debate.
if jack sparrow dies i will not watch the movie any more
Guys,
What are the complaints about $35 suggested retail? DVDs and Blu-rays never sell for SRP. If you are paying SRP then you need to find another retailer.
