Philips BDP7100 Blu-ray player lands at IFA

Not a ton of new specs to behold on this new Blu-ray player, but Philips's BDP7100 does everything it should (1080p output, HDMI CEC, 24p, True HD, and DTS HD support). No word if it's got HDMI v1.3 or Blu-ray 1.1, and Philips also neglected to mention the price and availability of this new Blu-ray player of theirs, but we still dutifully thank them for their morsels of information and sheepishly ask for a second helping of porridge, kind sirs. I don't see what makes the spec inferior. What is it about the spec you don't like? That it's complete? That it's backed by the DVD forum? That older players will still be able to take advantage of features in upcoming media?

Phillips r an innovative company, ocasionally cutting edge(remember the CDi?), but strictly middle-tier retail. But they are doing quite well making drive technology for nearly everyone else...

ryn the format is complete just not every one has it yet an incomplet format is hd dvd have u tried to buy a hd dvd rw disc? wait u can`t becuase the formats still under "finalization" jiust becuase your gt8800 ultra dosent have dx 10.1 dosent mean its incomplete

Yep..all of these will not be fully functional players. They are all Profile 1.0 except that Daewoo without the date but most likely at the end of 2008.

So many players, all not able to play all features of the discs and cost an arm and a leg..superb..let me go buy one..NOT!

For an incomplete format Blu-Ray sure does do a good job holding Industry support.

Specs aren't even fully detailed and you pre-pubescent HD-DVD fanboys are already weighing in with baised opinions.
