Acer joins HD DVD Promotional Group
Just days after announcing it's a part of the pro-Blu-ray campaign, Acer hedged its bets by officially joining the HD DVD Promotional Group as well. No stranger to straddling the line in the high def format war, Acer specifically cited plans to continue supporting HD DVD in its laptops, a place where the HD DVD camp claims a 70% market share advantage over its rival. While the HD slapfight continues indefinitely, Acer's got you covered whether you prefer Transformers or Fantastic Four.

Let the slap fighting continue. :)
"Acer's got you covered whether you prefer Transformers or Fantastic Four."
Of course they do, since I can buy F4 from Germany on HD DVD. ;)

Thanks for the link Xyzzy, Now that I'm in the HD-DVD "Game" that will be good knowledge to have.. only if Engadget would post those as well.. Only if..
Fantastic Four in HD looked fantastic on Comcast the other night.
I might buy a player just to see Transformers...
I don't know but the habab is all about but I've had an Acer laptop for almost a year now with HD DVD player in it.
So Gateways will all have HD DVD now.
Sony and the rest of the BluRay Consortium have been spending their money in the wrong places. BR should have been the top choice for computing, given the larger storage capacity. Instead, HD DVD will soon be so entrenched in the PC market that it will be here to stay.
Launching the PS3 with BR drives and taking a loss just to push adoption: $1 billion
Issuing a PR campaign saying the war is over and Blu-ray won: $ 100 million
Watching Walmart selling HD DVD stand alone players at less than $199: priceless.
LOL so now you need a player under $199 to "attempt" to win the war.
LOL.....wasn't $200 the magic selling point.
Someone missed his weekly HD-DVD awareness meeting.
Did you really just post a response arguing over $199 and $200.... you posted for $1? Really?.... Wow.
"Watching Walmart selling HD DVD stand alone players at less than $199: priceless."
I said:"LOL so now you need a player under $199 to "attempt" to win the war."
Reading what I said is one thing.
Reading with comprehension is another.
I still don't see the problem. He said seeing WalMart selling them for less than $199 would be priceless.... He didn't say $99.99 or $49.99 or even $149.99.... so you're still trolling for $1. Maybe $1.01 I'll give to you. And you people with your "I'm smarter than you because I'm going to post things and show you how smart I am with my comprehension" BS. Disgusting. If you love your Blu Ray so much, why aren't you watching something on it instead of trying to insult a perfectly legitimate comment about PC entrenchment. You're riding him like your boyfriend.. Get a job/life/girl/something.

That would also equate to some of you HD-DVD fanboys who seem to constantly rant day in and day out about how HD-DVD is the greatest thing since sliced bread but are in complete denial about being an HD-DVD fanboy. Some of the comments here recently have been littered with HD-DVD garbage day in and day out.
Why can't HD-DVD fans comment in their threads and Blu-Ray fans in theirs. It would be nice if everybody could co-exist and be cool with each other but it is obvious that isn't working and quite frankly, I get sick and tired of hearing about HD-DVD comments in Blu-Ray posts and visa-versa.
No need to anymore, BLU RAY IS DEAD !! read it and weep blu suckers!
