Not in Alaska they aren't. I guess I can't be too upset, seeing how Dish treats us the same as the rest of the US: like the step-sibling the rest of the family only calls when they need something like a loan, or help moving furniture (or lumber, seafood, oil, etc)

It's not really their fault though honestly. Geographically, we are a b*tch to send a signal to, and it's not like they are going to put a new Sat in orbit to cater to a population as small as Alaska's. Would be nice to see them rent space on another company's sat if possible though, maybe send some HD our way. People are starving up here for HiDef, and as a bunch of you know, once a year we all wind up with at least a thousand bucks worth of Big Oil blood money that just burns a hole in our pockets. Walmart, Costco, Sam's Club and Best Buy all put out their best HDTV's around this time, but none of them do much good without HD content to pipe through em.

Cash

Comments on Dish Network's CEDIA booth tour

ok

inemo

Comments on Dish Network's CEDIA booth tour

I'd leave cable for DIsh or D*TV the mintue both satellite systems stop compressing thier feed horribly. I have Dish HD and it looks fine but since I have nothing to compare it to I can't make that some "bold" statement you did.

As far as who is the leader....who cares.....Dish has a crapload of HD channels that are just unwatchable. In Orlando, we have Brighthouse networks and their feed is a higher bit rate then both D*TV and Dish as confirmed by ISF techs. I can't comment for other cities, but for me, I'm stuck with cable until satellite improves compression or adds so many HD channels that it's worth the trade off in PQ.

Rick

Comments on Dish Network's CEDIA booth tour

Dish Network is the worst of the lot. What a horrid excuse for multi-room media. Sure I could record in one room and watch in another, but I couldn't delete or record from the other room. (Of course I could have opted for two DVRs instead, but then I couldn't share at all.) And the response time between button pushes were ridiculous. That was the worst TV week of my life.

barry.padgett

Comments on Dish Network's CEDIA booth tour

that nickle and dime mentality is a big reason I haven't went to dish

DEE
