Strange, I've run video over a $7 17' HDMI cable and not seen any apparent degrade in the digital signal. I would expect a binary to maybe produce 'sparklies' on the screen, but I have not seen this.
I am not about to buy into what I cannot see in terms of a difference. And I did compare this about a year ago to a $100 Monster HDMI cable, which I then returned.
