"I'm looking for a pair of quality headphones that aren't seemingly made of glass. I'm an avid BMXer which causes me to frequently bash on any type of technology that joins me for my daily riding. I've been through the higher quality headsets in the Skullcandy line as these are supposed to be built for "abuse," which is laughable. I cant wear earbuds or canal buds, as my large ears seem to have a repelling property upon anything that sits in them. Wired or Bluetooth doesn't really matter, but I need something that can hold up to taking a few hits every now and again. I'm trying to keep 'em under $150. Thanks!"
That's exactly what's wrong with the combo format! If it costs more, it's not percieved as a "good deal," that's all there is to it.
The combo disc is a great idea in theory, the the average consumer doesn't think that way. Either HD DVD needs to release a combo disc version AND a regular HD DVD version of each movie (so that those who want only the HD DVD don't have to pay more than Blu Ray versions) or--better stilll--they simply lower the cost of the combo disc.
If the HD DVD / DVD combo discs cost the same as BluRay movies, that would be a MAJOR advantage.
As for me, I'm leaning towards getting a PS3 so it wouldn't matter to me, I'd always get the cheaper version.

That's exactly what has happened. New upcoming movies like Ocean's 13 from Warner which will be on HD DVD as combo and on Blu-Ray will cost the same. Warner will lower their combo discs to $34.99, $5 lower then older combos and increase the Blu-Ray version to $34.99 $5 more then $29.99 a price of some older releases. This will make it an even playing field. It actually helps HD DVD shine because HD DVD version will have more interactivity, features and same quality, meaning that most dual format people will prefer HD DVD version over Blu-Ray as it gives them more value for the money.
300 only on HD DVD makes sense for this promotion as it is most likely a deal with Warner. I think that this is one of the reasons why Warner will go HD DVD exclusive as well. This deal is huge. 300 with HD DVD player..Warner must be VERY happy.
