DVRs, HD TiVo Fall update, still no TiVoToGo or Multi-room Viewing
TiVo is starting to roll out their fall update for the TiVo lineup including the TiVo HD and Series3. This brings them to version 9.1 which includes some bug fixes and a few new features. The WishList feature gets enhanced and now allows more advanced searches, but they've also added Crestron integration for the Series3. The TiVo HD gets left in the cold as does the rest of HA market, as only Crestron is supported. The integration is via IP, so hopefully TiVo will release the protocol, or someone can reverse engineer it. We'd assume that the more anticipated features like TiVoToGo, Multi-Room viewing and eSATA support are included too, but not yet activated. Perhaps it's time to start trying to find new kickstart commands.

All the features noted (except external hard drive)are still being tested by the beta team as part of the L5 beta. They have been working on the beta testers machines for months now. MRV and TTG are fully functional and are supposed to roll out to the public by November.
The only item that looks to be removed from the release is the external drive attachment. It had a menu item for it about a month ago, but now its gone, though there is still an undocumented backdoor method that works fine.
Does anyone know if this update allows the "kickstart 62" method to work on the TivoHD? I really like to add an eSATA drive without having to crack open the TivoHD to clone the drive.
November is what a Tivo CSR told me as well.
kickstart 62 - works just fine; the menu item may *appear* again.
MVR & TTG - works just fine; will be rolled out, switch flipped in NOV
M-CARD in multi-stream mode (TiVo S3 HD) will be activated with this release; switch flipped on release or in NOV; with 8.3 TiVo HD functional already with these cards
Release currently being rolled out to several households. Unlike other TiVo software releases, this update will no apply TiVo by TiVo; rather this one is being deployed by household. If you get the update for ONE device, they all can get it -- no more waiting for a few weeks.
Priority purportedly to be enabled in mid-late October.
Remerging the dev trees like this is obviously the result of several wins with the FCC; count on more features soon.
