It's a far cry from
21 national HD channels, but
Cox Communications just signed a carriage agreement with Hearst-Argyle Television in six markets that covers both HD programming (yay) and digital-multicast (meh). Stations covered by the agreement are: WESH (
CBS NBC) and WKCF (CW) in Orlando; WDSU (
CBS NBC) in New Orleans; and ABC affiliates KMBC in Kansas City, Mo., KOCO in Oklahoma City, KETV in Omaha, and KHBS/KHOG in Fort Smith/Fayetteville, Arkansas. The agreement ends wrangling between the two companies that started more than
a year ago, which resulted in both the HD and SD digital transmission of these stations being pulled from Cox's network.
it's about time! the OU vs. Texas game is next week so this is a great thing for me and the girlfriend couldn't be happier, i guess there is some show called...gray's anatomy that she can now DRV in HD? Thanks for getting it done "cox" what a name for a cable company!
I'm trying to figure out what they're going to do with KMBC 9 out of Kansas City. Cox doesn't have service in Kansas City. They do carry KMBC in SD in the Topeka and Manhattan, KS markets, but all ABC network programming is blacked out on it, and we have KTKA in HD already from Cox (Topeka ABC affiliate). Anyone have an idea where this ones going? (maybe someone with access to the article?)
WDSU is the NBC affiliate in New Orleans, and it's a big win to have them back on Cox.. the only network not in HD on Cox in New Orleans is Fox now
Yeah, I finally get to see Heroes in HD on NBC this season! Now all they need to do is settle with the Fox affiliate so New Orleanians can actually watch an episode of K-ville in HD before they cancel it.
WESH is the NBC affiliate in Orlando, not CBS. And what exactly does this mean? I didn't know we had COX here in Orlando. Bright House Networks pretty much has a monopoly on the cable market. Its either that, or switch to satellite for most of the Central Florida area...
