It's all about how you use your system. Convenience is more important to me because I frequently take my drive to my friends house. I found the 120 GB drive for my 360 for $150 and it was well worth the extra money to be able to pop it out and take it whenever I want. I wasn't arguing the fact that Frank didn't get a good deal on his hard drive, I was defending the price of the Microsoft drive and why the extra $75 is justified...maybe not for everyone but for me it was.

Josh

Comments on Sony's PlayStation 3 to double as IPTV set-top-box

I can't help but wonder if some of this bickering is misplaced. Do either the 360 or PS3 allow you to play purchased games and purchased media on other people's game systems? I guess it's just a Blu-Ray player and not a very good one because it lacks a IR port which is just silly, now it wants to be a IPTV device. Really, it's one feature after the next of Totally Copying 360 features one by one expect the most important. The 360 has lots of great games, and the PS3? Well not really. The PS3 is a sorry excuse of a Game Console. It's everything but... Sure I like the feature of adding whatever HDD you want on the PS3. I wish MS would allow people to do that on the 360, but it's not a huge deal, it's Minor. Your going to have a hard time filling up the 120 gig drive, a lot of things you can just stream directly from your PC's HDD's which you can have all kinds of space to work with.

IPTV? In the US it's a MINOR Marketplace. Like only 1 million people even use this service in the US. Most people's Broadband is just not fast enough. So again, Sony is looking at where they can make the most Money, Blu-Ray Movies, and getting into TV. Gaming Market is a lot smaller. I can understand why so many people are just buying the PS2.

JBDragon

Comments on Sony's PlayStation 3 to double as IPTV set-top-box

It's all about selling more blu ray players, plain and simple folks. Sony is making a truck load of cash from PSP and PS2, both outselling PS3 by huge amounts. Sony could not give a rats ass about games for this console, first and foremost it is a BR player, and Sonys mission is to dominate the HD disc market AT ANY COST.
Ingenious plan, call it a games console with a sony badge and sell truck loads of BR players by sucker punching the public into buying a games console, beautiful. So what if they disenfranchise a few million suckers around the world, when the BR market is sewn up they might get around to making some games as well, maybe.
In the mean time, they still have a huge presence in the games console market with their other products and the world is their oyster, simple.
Only problem is, they priced it out of the market and said, people will still buy it anyway because it's a sony, but XBOX 360 is getting stronger, and damn, that feisty Wii came along and pissed on the parade, now sony are ripping up millions of dollars.
Oh dear, how sad, never mind.

Now it's plan X for sony, disguise a BR player as an extremely expensive set top box, and eventually we will rule the HD world, hell, eventually these good folks can play games on their set top boxes, and did we mention you can watch BR movies as well!!
SONY-Suckingin Ordinary Nitwit Yanks

smee

Comments on Sony's PlayStation 3 to double as IPTV set-top-box

sony wasn't worry about games for the ps3 when they released it.the president of sony game division said that people will buy the ps3 even if it didn't have any games because they are loyal sony fans.
the reason sony released the ps3 with br was not for a game system but to force br down people throats.sony was never worried about getting games for the ps3 all they were worried about was getting br out to the consumers and they figured that if they put it in the ps3 that they will have a jump on hd-dvd and they were worried about that more then games.
sony was right about some things, first they were right when they said that people will buy the ps3 even if it didn't have any games and they were right because it helped them get br out to the consumers quicker then hd-dvd.
but the ps3 fans say that the br have a better picture then hd-dvd because they have a ps3 not because of the picture.the facts are that every movie that's on both formats is better in hd-dvd.the movie critics always recomend the hd-dvd version over the br because
1-it has a better picture
2-better sound
3-more extras
4-and it has internet activities

i'm not going to say that's one is better then the other just because i have a game system for kids that has a br in it or i can buy an add on for it.i'll admit that i play games sometimes but i'm not going to fight over witch toy is better then the other.
i'm a movie lover and i have over a 1000 dvds and i'm looking for the one that's best for movies not the system that's it in or how much information it holds.the truth is that br is perfect for holding information and some games but hd-dvd is better for movies,it has way enough space and you will never use all the spave on a br disc, and i looked at both versions at the same time on the exact same tv and hook up and hd-dvd does have the better picture and if people need to stop being bias and say the truth instead of sayng br is better because they have a ps3.
the reason that hd-dvd stand alone players are out selling the br players is because movie fans buy them for movies not for games.i'll admit that some people buy them because of the price but they have a lot of people out there that's like me,i'll buy the best one even if it's higher but the hd-dvd version is better for movies and even if it was higher i'll still buy it.

godofthunder10
