Victor Cook said at Comic-Con that Spectacular Spider-man will be in HD when it comes out on KidsWB (or whatever) in March. He didn't elaborate, so I don't know if that means it'll also be in permanent widescreen, a la Justice League Unlimited. I personally think that series would also be served well with a 5.1 mix. But you're right in that current cartoons won't see an improvement in HD (just look at Family Guy on Fox or Legion of Superheroes on CW).
