Lumenlab shoves PC inside 42-inch 1080p display, calls it Q
There's all-in-one PCs, and then there's the Q. This behemoth sports a unique identity crisis, as it attempts to pose as an aluminum-framed HDTV while featuring a full-fledged computer within. Nevertheless, the 42-inch Q packs a 1080p panel, compatibility with the Lumenlab's own Hotwire PnP powerline networking technology, a fanless design, 1TB of HDD storage, 2GB of RAM and an Intel Core Duo processor. Unfortunately, details beyond that are fairly slim, but we should get a better idea of specifications and pricing when its ship date draws closer.

And they are environmentally friendly!! :)
iphone knockoff
hahahaha...nice
This is pretty impressive
This is exactly what Apple should come up with.. A 42" touchscreen imac with Apple TV built in:)

With such a screen it'd better sport a wirless keyboard, unless you want your nose right in the middle of this 42-incher !
Seems to me it's rather ought to sit in front of the sofa rather than on a desk. Expect a 4 figures price ^_^
Um... yes, I typically do expect a four figure price when buying a decent HDTV.
Yeah, but I tend to avoid those who start with a 3+ (-:
I hope this isn't the first time you've seen something like this...
This is very common in Norway. QP Vision launched their first LCD with built-in Media Center PC like 5 years ago...
Holy crap.
...I wish I could afford one.
So, we'll just throw away a 42 inch screens when the PC becomes obsolete in two years.
"Futureproof and built to last. All of the Q's™ components are industrial quality and upgradable, so your Q™ is never 'obsolete'. With a total system MTBF of 60,000 hours, you can use it 4 hours a day for the next 41 years."
This cool in theory, Only problem is, what if you need to work on it, replace a hard drive or worst yet a motherboard, not to mention hook up a printer or scanner?
This is the kind of all-in-one i would consider buying. I mean, you really dont have to worry about how thick the thing is when you spread the hardware out over that big of a space. They should have an expansion area, where you can just keep popping in more hard drives. I'm sure there's more room for it. 1TB is going to be too small in a couple years.
I figure the electric bill alone is going to kill you...
But will it blend?
Haha...Good One Larry..Thanks for the laugh...
It looks cool but i doubt many people will buy it. It is like one of those TV's with dvd/videotape, if one thing breaks, the whole unit goes to shit.
I think the idea is right on; Particularly if it is bundled with some TiVOish software (I know there's a linux project out there but I've forgotten the name). Hopefully it's a Linux box and not windows; I agree with whomever made the comment about AppleTV. As much as I like the idea of this the industrial design sucks; An OS X display (multi-touch or no) with front row and WiFi built in would be sweet.
It would be sweet with a PS3 built in with a media center linux distro installed....mmmm....
A few more years as computers get smaller and smaller there won't be TV's without the PC inside!
The thing with this is that hardware can be used to make the TV scale low res images much better than a standard HDTV. That is something I would be interested in.
They're probably going to want to sell it to more than three people so it probably won't have a Linsux or Crapple OS. IMHO.
You are hilarious.
