Earlier this month, we noticed that fence-sitters in the drawn out
format war could play both sides by picking up the towering m9000t with an HD DVD / Blu-ray combo drive
built right in. For those still wondering if it's worth the coin,
ComputerShopper managed to sit it down and answer that very inquiry. For starters, the hardware in this "entertainment PC" was said to be mighty robust, and all around performance seemed to exceed expectations. There were no complaints when watching high-definition films, and while this thing wasn't exactly built for gamers, it managed to pass a
Company of Heroes test with flying colors. The only notable dig on this otherwise solid machine was the unfortunate lack of "couch-friendly peripherals," but for under $1,500, the Pavilion Elite m9000t was still deemed "an excellent choice."
I would love to have win this system. :( Having an HDTV but not being able to afford an HD-DVD/Blu-Ray player or HD cable television.. the TV isn't much use to me right now other than looking cool in my room while it sits unused.
I just got mine in customized from the hp website. I must say it is a very nice pc. I've got it connected to my 55" SXRD and it looks very nice. Came with a free copy of The Bourne Supremacy on HD DVD. For the money, you can get a sweet pc with HD DVD and Blu-ray.
i just got mine too, best thing about it is that i found a 25% code online and saved over $500, now i just need to get a new monitor to handle HDCP, right now i have to take it apart go to the tv room and hook up the HDMI and fiber audio and i am good to go.
I am having a nightmarish time getting the system to work properly. DVD playback is good mostly except for a strange distortion that pops up in the middle on either of my two monitors. Also I just got the New Harry Potter HD set for xmas and of course.... it wouldn't play HD ..I have run another set of updates that came from cyberlink specifically for the HD Media player included and am hoping this will fix the problem. It won't recognize the format at all. The only other software that seems to work ok is the CYBERLINK free trial of there DELUXE player 99 dollars if I want to buy and it choking periodically while playing. Not really acceptable....I was SOOO Excited to buy this Computer. Another example of Technology that is not ready. :( :( Very sad.
