The folks over at
CNET aren't wasting a moment getting to know Panasonic's
latest Blu-ray player, so why should you? Reviewers started off by praising Panny for getting a
Profile 1.1-compliant player out before the actual deadline, and minor gripes about the
DMP-BD10A (namely, the remote and the fold-down door) have been addressed satisfactorily. Additionally, it was noted that audiophiles would find lots to love courtesy of its ability to output DTS-HD Master Audio / Dolby TrueHD soundtracks in bitstream format, and sticklers for image quality are likely to be equally impressed. Put simply, this unit "performed excellently by properly deinterlacing 1080i signals to 1080p without artifacts or jaggies," and it managed to measure up quite well with other highly-regarded BD players when playing back films. All in all, the BD30 was awarded a 7.4 out of 10 rating, and we're pretty certain that adding an Ethernet jack and built-in decoders for high-resolution audio formats would've made this thing even more attractive.

Only a 7.4? Sorry h4Idol, maybe the next player with be the perfect one..
No ethernet? C'mon, the Tosh A2 even has that feature. Other than that this player has all the features I'm looking in a BluRay player. The price puts it near the 40GB PS3 level. Hard to choose.

And you're not likely to ever see it on this site. Also, the Black Friday deal at Sears that has a $300 3rd generation HD DVD player going for $169 is conspicuously absent--despite the fact that I sent a tip in about it. Meanwhile, this is the second story in as many days on this particular Blu-Ray player.
I'm sure you're right.. I'm sure posting positive & fair HD-DVD news is "daunting" and "A lot of work"

@ DeadPlasmaCell, 7.4 for a player is pretty impressive. Cnet rates items fair and hard. For example the XA2 ranks in at a 7.3 from Cnet. Myself I prefer blu-ray because of the content (Disney/Pixar), however I also use HD DVD and like both formats. I look forward to seeing great things from both formats and think both will be around for a long time to come.

If you're not interested in games and want a BD player, then maybe this one would be better. I'm pretty sure this is going to be quieter than the PS3. PS3 doesn't bother me, but if it weren't for my projector's noise, I think the PS3 fan noise would bother me.
