I am not a fan of TIVO's guessing game as to whether they will sell a lifetime subscription or not. No matter how good there service is, it seems like their business model is a game of gotcha. For this reason I am not one of their customers. I am pleased that I found a second Sony DHG-HDD250 at a sony outlet as a refurb unit. Its not clear these units will get guide data after the 2009 analog shutoff (see the avsforum thread for details), but for the price, it is worth the risk. If Tivo had just adjusted the price on lifetime, and not got into the now-you-see-it game, I probably would have bought their product instead.
