The control pad for the TV was a flip pad with membrane buttons, which at the time was a major "Cool!" factor, and the picture quality was superb.  My mom's System 3 lasted more than 20 years before it was replaced, but even then the picture quality was still good.  It was replaced because the membrane buttons on the flip pad wore out, and this was before remote controls were the norm.
