Survey sez: nearly half of America prefers football on HDTV versus in-person
We know, the hardcore fanatics out there aren't likely to believe these results, but according to a recent survey commissioned by Motorola, some 45-percent of Americans would prefer to watch collegiate / professional football games on an HDTV rather than attending -- which certainly mirrors the conclusions drawn by a similar survey conducted earlier this year. Furthermore, only 32-percent of those questioned stated that they outright preferred live matches to those shown in HD, while the other segment was apparently indifferent. Not surprisingly, Moto attributes the results to our growing fascination with HD sports, but we have to believe the unprecedented rise in ticket prices has something to do with all of this as well. Still, even we can't deny the allure of getting all up in the huddle at 1080i, and given the alternative of sitting in costly nosebleed seats in sub-freezing temperatures, it's hard to pass up the former.

I much prefer to watch football on TV rather than attend the games.
For one, you get instant replay. Two, you have commentary and stats. And in some cases, you get perspective from the various camera angles, vs your single perspective from your seat.
That's being said, I wish they didn't have that stupid rule (for cable) where a game is not televised if the game is not sold out. Or that if a regional game is playing, you may not get a competing game an alternate channel.
I just want to watch football.
As far as it being offered in HD, it's one of the better showcases for the for the format.
My advice to you is Sunday Ticket. Its $350 for the full HD package but if you watch football every weekend it breaks down to about $20 a week. Not bad if you ask me.
Anyways, live football is just too expensive. I can spend the $350 for an entire your of EVERY game in HD, beer, my couch, a close restroom or I can spend $350+ on garbage seats, $8 bottle of beer, a long line in the restroom. Its a no-brainer IMO
The results of this survey are not hard to believe, i would rather spend my time infront of kickass tv & my selection of food and drinks.
Commentary is not a benefit of watching it on television. Those idiots don't know what the hell they're talking about.
If the weather is really bad, then staying at home is a much preferred choice.
I like watching on hd at home, but you really can't tailgate at home... If you have good seats, its no contest. Even with nosebleed seats, if you tailgate, it doesnt matter!
