Cox has added 11 new HD channels to its lineup in Northern Virginia, bringing the tally to 31. With the additions, Cox has almost doubled its HD count since the beginning of 2007. Kudos, not a bad showing at all. There's some good stuff in the new channels, too: History Channel, Science Channel, Animal Planet, CNN, Versus/Golf, TBS, Food Network, HGTV, TLC, Discovery and NHL Network. Nice going, Cox, but why did you have to put in the bit about this being "more than any local competitor?" This may be technically true, but it's pretty misleading; last time we checked,
DirecTV is available in Virginia.
Well, we just got NFL HD here in Kansas. But, 90% of the time it's just a white graphic with "NFL HD Network Schedule" and all the dates of upcoming live games they'll be broadcasting on Thursday. Then, they actually show those games but then it goes back to the graphic. I know COX is in the process of putting in Fiber Optic all across Topeka, but who knows what that'll actually bring from them. I just realized we actually have 19 HD channels. I'm not sure how that happened, but I don't even watch most of them anymore. Stretch-O-Vision is rearing it's ugly, ugly head.
This blows. I've so wanted Discovery in HD... and I have Cox Northern Virginia...
But I have a Tivo Series3, and all of these channels are switched digital.
Frick.
Welcome to 2006 Cox!
SciFi Channel? FX?
Can we get some of the new channels that arn't reality/how-to?
Any chance we'll see switched digital in Hampton Roads this decade?
Yea in Hampton Roads, for Cox we got Discovery HD, TBS HD, Universal HD, History Channel added but no CNN... or Science Channel or Versus. Although, what is ncie is we get Nat Geo HD but not Nat Geo since we dont have digital (digital cable is available to us, but who wants to spend 50 extra).
Oh. and i am counting the days for SPEED HD to be released for COX.. hopefully before this time next year....
AHHHHHH, are you KIDDING ME. Cox is doing this everywhere BUT Kansas. While we are stuck in, well, exactly what the guy up there said. Stretch-o-vision and Re-Runs. I mean honestly, I watch Discovery channel on a daily basis, it sure would be nice to see it in HD.
Cox (in Fairfax, VA) is telling me I can't use my cable card to receive the new channels. The support person I spoke to stated the cable card has a "limit" of 20 HD channels. They're offering cable box at the same monthly fee for a year as the cable card. Make sense to anyone??
I live in okc where they rolled this out in dec. and although I love HD in all flavors the selection is weak at best(20 movies)..I have 20x the selection and for the same price almost from my 360 on marketplace.
