Over a year after Insight Communications launched its
InsightDigital 2.0 service and threw in a trio of HD channels to boot, the cable company is now giving its loyal customers five more high-definition options along with the Digital 3.0 upgrade. Reportedly, users can now tune into Discovery, Animal Planet, The Learning Channel (TLC), TBS, National Geographic and yes, even the
NFL Network in glorious HD. The Digital 3.0 package will automatically be available to digital subscribers at no extra cost, but it should be noted that Insight will raise prices in January. Additionally, the operator has nearly doubled its on-demand library and includes VOD channels for HOB, Starz, Showtime, Cinemax and The Movie Channel, but we're still left with no word on any HD VOD plans.

Nice of them to do this just as they are leaving my area and I have to switch to Comcast. Of course, I'm calling up DirectTV and Dish pretty soon to see who will give me the better deal.
No kidding. We just switched from Insight to Dish Network in the Indianapolis area. Comcast is set to take over on 12/31 here. We are still going to keep the cable modem for internet because there aren't too many options for high speed connections.
Is this supposed to be out todayish? If so, I haven't got it yet.
Judging from the message on the Insight Channel I would guess the change will happen on Tuesday. It is possible they could be showing up on the QAM channels.
I hope this does show up on QAM as I have Insight in Northern Kentucky, but I don't want to pay the $15 (or more) extra a month for a DVR box. Though I watch Discovery all the time and would love to see it in HD. Personally, I don't see why it wouldn't be on QAM considering Discovery, Animal Planet, and TBS are on Basic Analog cable here. But I shouldn't get my hopes up on that though.

Northern Kentucky launched these channels in late November. HD VOD is available either via channel 901 or by going to On Demand (ch 99) and then picking HD. Only a few movies are available so far, but the library will grow soon. There's also a few free HD-VOD titles that are more slideshowish, but look beautiful.
I've been a long-time N. Ky. Insight customer, after they bought out TKR, who bought out Storer. I was happily surprised to see new HD channels when browsing the other day. C'mon you hard-up QAM leechers (I was a disappointed QAM leech who went ahead and ponied up the money), get the DVR and the HD Pack and go to town.
By the way, the NFL Network HD is pretty lame. Their studio shows are SD, even the highlights. Only their live games and edited rebroadcasts are HD.
We already had the 3 networks, Fox, 2 PBS, ESPN and ESPN2, UniversalHD, [Discovery] HD Theatre, HD Net and HD Net Movies, TNT-HD and Music HD. Plus HBO and Showtime HD channels if you subscribe to the SD equivalents.
It's nice not to be the last to get everything.
Does anyone in Lexington have the new channels yet?
I have the new channels through the box, I love it. My question is do the local affiliate stations work using a QAM receiver? I am buying a second TV but don't want to buy a second DVR box, I just want HD for locals, not premium, and I want it via QAM, not an external antenna. Is Insight offering that in Lexington?
