Actually the Kuro HDTVs have been measured at slightly above a 3000:1 ANSI static contrast, which is still the highest ever tested. Sony's XBR4 LCD actually measure pretty high--somewhere right around above 2000:1. I think the Samsung 81 series is in second place though.
