It used to be that HDNet Movies, along with MGM HD, MHD, Universal Movies HD, and Smithsonian HD were part of the HD package which costs you an extra $10 a month, but included these channels and HD versions of many channels in your particular package.
Now, however, they have separated these five channels from the HD package, and they are considered the "HD Extra" package, which costs an additional $5 a month. They just yanked the channels in the middle of the night without letting us know that they were removing them from the standard HD lineup, and now we're expected to pay extra for something we used to get as part of our HD package.
Dirty pool.
I'm miffed because HDNet movies, MGM HD, and Universal HD are some of the best channels in the HD lineup. My DirecTV bill is growing too big through all this nickel-and-dime B.S.. The fact that they can just yank channels out of a package and make them part of a different "upgrade" makes me wonder when they're going to yank other HD channels off my lineup and make me pay ala carte for each one?
Please, if you're a fan of HD on DirecTV, give them a call and let them know that you don't like having channels re-assigned like this.
Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.
DirecTV just pulled a fast one.
