Columbus, Ohio next to get AT&T U-verse
Just a week after folks in St. Louis got the rights to brag about being the latest crew to get access to U-verse, AT&T has announced that it will be bringing the fiber-based service to Columbus, Ohio. More specifically, 51 communities in the area will soon be eligible for service, and installations are slated to start on December 24th. 'Course, consumers who sign up before January 31, 2008 will receive their choice of free HD service for a year, a $100 cash-back redemption or one month of free TV service when they order U200, U300 or U400 by phone. If you're curious to see if your neck of the woods is covered, take a peek beyond the break, and if you've been left high and dry this go 'round, rest assured that AT&T is promising to expand U-verse in and around the area in due time

I wonder if you input your address that you'll actually get a message saying that the service is available. We've supposedly had service in Cleveland for a while now yet no address I enter on the website comes up with service available.
Does anyone actually have this service running?
keep us updated on this, been diein to get fiber! They have been installing in the area for quite some time.
This is very exciting! Time Warner just increased their billing rates for 2008 too. Time to switch!!
Bring it down to Akron next! I'll drop Time Warner in a heartbeat!
Dash my excitement. I live in Columbus and the U-Verse site says my address is not available for U-Verse :(
Yes, finally! I've been following this for a while and am glad that it's finally going to be coming to the Columbus area. Free HD service for a year or $100 cash-back sounds pretty good for a post-holiday thank you too.
Getting closer. I live in Dayton and am hoping this gets here sometime soon.
It is coming here to Jackson, MS sometime in the near future. I am very excited to get some competition (other than Sat.) in the area for Comcast. I was ready to switch (when they actually get here), until I found out about their HD service. Their DVR can record 4 SD shows at once, which is great, but 90% of everything we record is HD and it can only do one HD show at once. Also, if someone is watching HD in one room, someone else can't be watching it in the other. Oh yeah, most of what I read said their internet was slower than cable. :( Oh well, they are promising to improve, also, I hear the sound and the quality on SD channels is much better than anything else right now.
They told me on the phone they were planning to roll out dual HD in most likely Jan, if not then early first quarter.
They also said that there hasn't been any discussion to them yet about faster Internet.
so take with that what u will.
Oh p.s they also said that the boxes will talk to each other and u can watch yet DVR anywhere in the house, this she said is coming "soon".
Does anybody know if uverse will be coming to Spingfield, MO soon? I live in an apartment where I can't get sat and mediacom sucks.....
