Time Warner Cable (partly owned by Time Warner, parent company of AOL, which owns Engadget) has historically been a bit slow to add channels in the Raleigh area, but those situated in the Triangle area of North Carolina now have three additional HD options to enjoy over the break. As of now, TWC customers in and around Raleigh have access to National Geographic HD, HGTV HD and Food Network HD, which can be located on channels 279, 277 and 278, respectively. Also of note, the trifecta is broadcasting now to Wilmington customers as well on channels 968, 966 and 967.
Problem with this is that they're all on the same QAM channel and sharing bandwidth, so they look horrible. Pixelated and blurry, and if there's any motion what so ever...well forget it.
Sadly, I have to agree... they don't look very good :-(
Gee, now maybe next they'll actually put some channels worth watching in HD. HGTV I can see appealing to some people (like my mother), National Geographic is ok (Discovery HD is better), and the Food Network?! Yikes.
Come on TWC, sign some contracts with real channels and get them in HD, not all this fluff that 75% of the people won't watch.
That brings us to an even 25 HD channels now by the way, 18 free, 5 in HD package, and Showtime and HBO if you have those packages.

Andrew:
You folks have better HD channel selection than we have in all of TWC Wisconsin, the cable company that is "afraid" to add HD channels:
We only get 1 or 2 HD channels at a time, not 3-8 other locations get, all-at-once.
We have 20 if you count the HD locals, 23 if you add the one HDPPV and FoxSportNet (that is on
Yeah, we have a decent sized lineup, but most of it is locals, worthless channels, or channels that just play stretched SD (TBS, TNT, etc). Still, I can't complain about our overall lineup, I just wish they would focus on getting channels worth watching on the list rather than all the stretch-o-vision stuff.
You folks have more HD channels than we do in TWC Wisconsin and other TWC areas, too: Congradulations!
can you guys stop adding: (partly owned by Time Warner, parent company of AOL, which owns Engadget) to the posts? we get it.
Andrew, do you work at TWC??
Unfortunately, it's something we have to do as a matter of full disclosure. Not everyone will read every TWC post, thus it become necessary to restate for new readers.

Great, now if only the picture quality was good. :( Also, can we have Bravo? Are we the only maket in the entire U.S. with no access to Bravo?
