But I'm not a fanboy, when a bluray player is able to catch up with the PIP commentary (which by HD DVD player does) and when they are less than 180$ I will purchase one as well, until then I guess I'll just have to be happy watching The Big Labowski, The Matrix, and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and all the Will Farell I can handle over and over again.

Blu Ray will someday have my support, but until then Yay Universal/Paramount and Dreamworks. Sales for Blu Ray discs were $160 million compared to HD DVDs $103 million. Not bad considering it had 2 more studios backing Blu Ray. For WB films, Blu Ray sales in the U.S. outpaced HD DVD 60 to 40. Still slim margin. But huge gap in the UK. So be honest and say you changed your mind based on UK sales. And not to mention the Blu Ray players in the UK are far superior than the one's in the US. Oh can we have a ethernet port on the players as well as i'm sure we'll need constant firmware updates if Blu Ray wins the war as they will get lazy with their encoding of the dvds.

Blah

Comments on

Both are still getting destroyed by regular DVD, those sales are abysmal compared to the billions of dollars most likely made in DVD sales. If that's the case then why not go with red and sway the market that way. The fourth quarter sales in the international market is an interesting point. Are they saying that they sold more BD internationally than HD? If so how much more? Ironically, it seems that HD is the better seller because with less titles to offer they've maintained a fairly nimble sales figure.

Still, all that aside, I'm left wondering what the Microsoft factor will be on the HD DVD player? Will they walk away from HD on their current and next GEN game consoles? Are they ready to go completely hard drive based for their HiDef video and gaming offerings? I would think that they would see the loss of Warner to the HD DVD format as a mighty blow to Xbox 360 Console because the PS3 still offers a one-system solution and even if MS is ready for a hard drive based entertainment world, the world may not be so quick to embrace, nor the movie studios who will moan and whine about piracy.

Jason T

Comments on

Awesome....now we can all pay twice as much for a technology that is still under development!

Brad

Comments on

Underdeveloped?
