Philips' new LCD lineup continues to not impress
If you're the type of person who cares more about the appearance of a TV than the picture itself, then the Philips design collection led by the new 7000 FlatTV line is made just for you. The 52PFL7603D (pictured) is the lineup's flagship and is the "Ultimate Dream TV". If you thought Ambilight was cool, then you're really going to love Invisible Sound and Pixel Plus 3HD, which btw is anything except 3D. But the bad news is, that you'll somehow have to contain all of your excitement for new line until the spring, when the 42, 47 and 52 inch models are expected to be available.

WOW !! Take this reviewer with a large dose of skepticism. The new Philips lineup has the best specs in the industry - bar none. It seems apparent he hasn't even spent time looking at these new sets. People who cannot be objective should not be paid to review products or the people hiring them should not expect readers to have much faith in the integrity of what they have to say.
Kindly avoid the use of split infinitives. "To not impress" interjects the word "not" where it does not belong. Now go buy a Kuro.
Philips,
Sony has used this floating glass look over
the past 4-5 years very effectively.
Surely, you must know this.
Here is Sony's latest batch of such designs.
Introduced August 2007 at their Shinagawa HQ.

Vanguard.
Philips wins awards fot their designs and sells plenty of sets in Europe yet Engadget like many of US sites show no love for Philips. There's more to choose than Pio, Panny and Samsung.
^for
I hardly understand such hatred from Engadget. Please, buy a Sony or Samsung with clouding or a Sharp with banding or a Panasonic with buzzing.
It's true that in past Philips had many reliability problems, maybe more than other. But its last line (Aurea, 9632/9732) it's better and has better PQ in SD or HD that others.
Of course, nothing it's perfect: poor angles and a little weak contrast.
