The percentage of electronics at the end of their lives which were recycled.
The EPA found that the percentage remained consistent from 1999-2005. Even as recycling rates went up, the amount of electronics reaching end of life outpaced the increase, leaving the figure static. (source: EPA, July 2008)

what about the new stand alone player they announced coming in may/june? any pics of that one?
This had a sug retail of $599...right? Still too high for me but if it streets under $499 then it has a good shot to be popular with potential blue ray buyers.
The 5500 is the answer to ALOT od people's problems.I support both HD movie formats and would love to have a full featured all-in-one.The Samsung BDP5500 at $599 seems like it would fit that bill VERY nicely.I can easily see this player selling aggresively o the street for about $450-$475 and gaining a strong loyalty from others that support both HD movie formats also.
Samsung could make a killing with this unit if it doesn't have any problems as HDDVD owners are sure to be looking for a blu ray player soon.
oh this would look so good under my Samsung TV and it will play all my hd dvds and blu-rays and it supports lossless audio... announced $599, this could hit the streets at $399 or $499... = amazon might be hooking these puppies up for $299 or $399, at which i definitly would buy it... and then i can use my 360 addon as a pc drive and i can turn my crappy ps3 into a george foreman grill and i can play frisbee with the one and only game i bought for it (just so i could have something to try out the gaming ability on it)...

no problem for me. It would only be seen when inserting a disc in, otherwise it would remain behind a closed door.
hopefully in 6 months it will be done below $299
I wonder what the chances are that this could go BD-Live/Profile 2.0 with firmware. All of the neccessary hardware seems to be in the unit.

Same here. One of the reasons I got the Tosh EP-35 HD DVD player was the analogue outputs for HD audio. Although only 5.1 but that's fine for now as I don't have the extra speakers. My not that old amp is not getting replaced just to get HDMI for HD audio, unless the player does full HD audio over HDMI and all HD audio formats for both HD DVD and Blu-Ray (something the PS3 can't even do!).
And for me to go Blu I need profiles 1.1/2.0 guaranteed (not just, "oh well it has an Ethernet port") also and no chance of any further spec changes in the next 5 years at least.
Hence I'll stick with HD DVD even if it's a dying format, until such time Blu-Ray is mature, then I'll be looking for a combo player probably as I doubt the current HD DVD discs with better features will be replaced any time soon on Blu-Ray with equivalent profile 1.1/2.0 features added.
Living outside the US I need a multi-region player also (though I would argue that US residents should too, as I know from DVD experience that it's not always the US who get the best releases).
