Poll: Does your provider carry Fox in HD?
With the Super Bowl quickly approaching, some are still making last minute preparations to ensure they get a chance to check out the big game in HD, but we wonder how many will be left in the 20th Century watching in SD. We think it's really sad that although you might've picked up a new HDTV, done all your homework to ensure it's connected properly, and you may still be left in the cold. So tell us, will you be able to watch the game in HD, or is your provider the weakest link?

Mine carries it but I'll still be watching OTA...picture quality suffers over compressed digital cable...
ABOVE and beyond the regular high mthly fee I pay DISH network for satellite programming, I ALSO pay an extra fee for local channels and ANOTHER extra fee for HD programming. In spite of all of that, they tell me I STILL won't be able to watch the Superbowl in HD even though I pay for it and it is broadcast in HD by Fox. OTA doesn't work where I live, so I'm forced to watch the game on my $8K setup in pathetic crummy SD- In-effin-credible.
That is nothing short of CRIMINAL.
WHY DISH?? WHY after paying through the nose for local channels PLUS HD programming will you NOT give me LOCAL HD programming?!?!? Are you not already making ENOUGH money off me???
We who live in upstate NY want and answer and want it NOW.
I also live in upstate NY (Syracuse area). I'm in the same boat as you, Dish HD, local channels, but no local HD channels? Why can't they throw us a bone and give us a NY or LA based channel in HD? Luckily I have a good antenna :). But still the most used channels are still the hardest to get? That doesn't make sense.
Well if you've spent 8k on your current setup, why not just get a SonicView 8000HD FTA receiver for $500 more and problem solved?
I'll be watching OTA as well.
Makes more sense to watch it OTA anyway, since that's less compression from cable companies. Most of the cable HD I've seen looks no better than the 480i stuff I get OTA because of all the compression.
Not until maybe 2 weeks ago was Fox HD available in phoenix through Cox without having to pay for their HD package. Just in time. w00t.
None of the poll option corresponds to my situation.
I live in Northern NJ. (10 min from GWB) My provider is Time Warner. How can I find out if Fox will broadcast the Super Bowl in HD?
If you call 720P HD then I guess.
I'd rather 720P than 1080i.
Pretty sure Superbowl will be the first ever 1080P broadcast, will only be OTA at that rate, and will be a mere 1 or 2 superbowls away.
Funny Thing, my Fox station never had an HD feed of their channel, until now that is.

I checked out the channel and so far, it's an upconvert of programming. Since there isn't any HD programming until Friday night, I've yet to see that the channel is true HD. I'll be shocked if it's truely 720p. My Fox station never does anything right.
Cox Cable is doing good things with their HD line-up. I've received Fox HD for about 4 months now. I love it! Also, here in Oklahoma, some areas in the western part of the state that couldn't receive Fox to begin with will be able to receive up to an HD signal just for the Superbowl then it vanishes after that. Ahh, the power of the Superbowl.
Comcrap doesn't carry FOX in HD in my area. (Mobile, AL) I've heard it explained that the parent company of the affiliate is holding their signal for ransom and wants Comcrap to pay more than they're willing to in order to carry it. Nice job losers.
DirecTV carries Fox in HD here in Chicago, but we'll be watching on my projector in my media room (over eight feet diagonal) where I just use an antenna for my hi-def goodness.
