AV123's new MFW-15 subwoofer
Okay, the Wilson Audio Thor's Hammer subwoofer is a little beyond even the Engadget HD budget. But Joe Six Packs like us want deserve our bass, too! Enter AV123's MFW-15 -- we remember the company's founder, Mark Schifter, back when he was with Audio Alchemy. Delivering high value products has always been his game, and this sub looks like it continues the trend: 15-inch driver, good looking cabinet (in a choice of finishes) and unlike Wilson Audio's offering, the package includes a 350-Watt amplifier for your $599. Typical in-room response stretches down to 15 - 17-Hz, so you'll feel where your money went, too. Want your neighbors to feel it, too? Okay, bass-freak, just stack multiple units as needed; but we're not responsible for any damages that ensue.

I like!
Looks like a foam surround, which I do not like (NOTE: IT JUST LOOKS LIKE FOAM, IT MIGHT NOT BE).
Wonder how much shipping will be.
you know, i used to think that too, but i'm starting to come around... Fi uses foam surrounds, and those are some of the most well regarded subs in the car arena.

Here's a thread on AVSForum.com about subwoofer testing by independent reviewers. Dedicated bassheads would already know about this thread, but others can read thru the ratings here:

The thread has more detailed information on various subs and valuable inputs from other forum members.
Btw, you can get the MFW-15 here or call them on their sales line: http://av123.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=shop.flypage&product_id=178&category_id=9&manufacturer_id=0&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=37
I myself have a pair on order in Satin Black..... wohooooo!
I've got a 7-channel speaker setup from AV123 (with "no-name" subwoofer and Buttkickers in my Berkline chairs).
I'd venture that this speaker will more than exceed its price in terms of value; everything that AV123 sells does. I'm tempted to get a couple - except they won't fit under my 133" screen.
geez, you guys can't afford a $600 sub? I guess that is what happens when you let bloggers in with the men.
Please read that intro again -- $21,000 for the Thor's Hammer is a little rich for blogger blood. At $600, the MFW-15 is more in line with our finances (and needs).
$600 for a really good sub is reasonable. AV123 is an amazing company, and Mark is an awesome guy. Glad to see you all putting some news about his latest offering up here.
This thing is gonna rock!
Plus you can get a pair of them for just $999!
just got mine on saturday. i cant believe it only cost me $600. ive never heard bass this deep, i thought it would be good but i had no idea. i think my house would shake appart if i were to stack 2 of these. already thought my windows were goin to blow out. ah i rent so f it. any way great sub worth more than it costs
