Tonight is the season premiere of the 16th edition of
Survivor on CBS, and yet
again, its not ready for HDTV. We've gone so far as getting in-car
NASCAR cameras in HD, but reality shows continue to lag behind. According to an interview with host Jeff Probst, CBS brass are still concerned about the cost, and that he's not in a big hurry to see himself in HD. C'mon CBS, if ESPN can put cameras in
anything with wheels, surely you can trot a production crew out to the South Pacific or where ever, and bring some waterproof
HD makeup for Jeff.
If they can film Discovery channel HD , how the heck can they not do survivor ??
HD cameras have made it the the freakin' TOP OF MT EVEREST!
Shame on you CBS.
Yes, who doesn't want to see filthy, dirty, hairy people in 1080i. Let Survivor stay in SD, there are too many close ups of the contestants, HD would just lower the ratings.
I'll tell you why it is not in HD...greed. They are too freaking cheap to upgrade. That show is printing money and they want to pocket as much as possible.
Exactly. It's greed. Both Survivor and Amazing Race would look great in HD. You know if they were actually smart enough to film it in HD it would be rerun more often in 5 years when most everything will be HD. I think syndicated HD shows will have much more value done the way.
Jesus! Do you realize how much money Survivor rakes in and how cheap it probably is to produce, and they STILL don't have HD? Cheap bastards. Well I won't be watching. If it was in HD, I would consider it.
It is a real shame CBS and/or the Producers have decided to go the cheap route. Some of the shots they take regularly would look awesome in HD.
I want it in HD because they go to some beautiful locales. If they can do Planet Earth in HD, Survivor and Amazing Race will be simple. Cheap Bastards.
Yeah bitten, dirty people in HD = no fun.
It really bugs me that the y go to beutiful locations & film in SD. Come on Burnett, buy some new damn cameras
Can't they at least shoot in 16:9 for chrissakes!!
I find it amazing that Les Stroud (Survivorman) can lug around his own hd cameras (on a much smaller budget I assume) for a week, yet an entire production crew can't take some handycams to the survivor hotspot of the season.
