MadCatz Xbox 360 HDMI Conversion kit now officially available
No, it won't get you "true" HDMI, but older 360 owners looking to get rid of those clunky component cables might want to take note: that MadCatz HDMI Conversion Kit is now official. The $90 adapter comes with cables and supports HDMI 1.3, 1080p, Dolby Digital and DTS -- but there's no telling what the VGA-to-HDMI signal conversion will do to your image quality, so you're probably better off doing the eBay shuffle and getting a new 360 with HDMI built-in.

Seems like a lot of money for something that achieves very little.
I agree with Hostile17. I am using component cables for my 360, and the two HDMI inputs on my TV are taken up by my PS3 and HD DVD player. I downloaded the DMC4 and GTA4 demos for both systems, and if anything, the 360 looks better simply because it's a bit brighter (and yes, the settings are the same on all the inputs). Waste of money.
MadCatz marketing meeting...
"Hey, we've got to make another product that is borderline sketchy, is probably something the consumer doesn't need and makes us 75% profit."
"A worthless HDMI conversion kit?"
"Brilliant!"
"Brilliant!"
You mean 750% profit? This thing should be no more than $29 you can keep your shitty cables too! I'm not the leading most authority in the analog to digital conversion ,but isn't a fact that your can't convert it proper with this device?
They need to cut the price in half...at least.
I picked one up, since I am out of ports on my Television, and it was either switch cables or buy a switcher, and I would want an expensive auto switcher. I have to say from what I have seen the device does an incredible job, and the picture quality looks top notch. I am sure the straight HDMI ports on the new model would be better, but this looks pretty damn good.
You coulda just gone to monoprice.com and gotten a splitter cheaper than you paid for the cable you just bought.
Take that $90, sell your Xbox 360 and buy an Xbox 360 with HDMI. It would probably cost close to the same and you'd get a 360 with better cooling and such.
