That's right, the dark period is over. The Writer's Guild has ended its
strike, and now we can look forward to some of our favorite shows to watch on our HDTVs coming back sooner, later, or not at all. Thanks to our friends over at TV Squad, we've found a pretty comprehensive list at TV Guide, but here's a few of the ones we're looking forward to:
- Sooner (March/April/May): House, Grey's Anatomy, My Name is Earl, The Office, ER, all the CSI's, One Tree Hill, Lost, Battlestar Galactica, Smallville
- Later (Fall '08 - 2009): 24, Chuck, Heroes, Life, Pushing Daisies
- Not at all: Big Shots, Bionic Woman, Journeyman, Life is Wild

Bionic Woman wasn't that good. No big loss there. Journeyman on the other hand, that was a great show. It sucks that it isn't coming back, which I've known since before the last episode was on. At least the strike is finally over. Then they can all get paid again, and I can watch my favorite shows.
I agree 100%! Journeyman was an AWESOME show...why do my favorite shows always seem to get canceled. :( I am bummed out now. Can't we get enough people together to bring it back...isn't that how Jericho came back (because I thought that was canceled as well).
I'm bummed too about Journeyman. I'm glad to see Reaper is going to have some new episodes shot--hopefully it will live to see another season.
Yeah, I wish Journeyman was renewed too... Bionic Woman deserved being cancelled because they could never setlle on the theme (dark, edgy vs. light, campy), dropped storylines without any regard for the overall plot, and et cetera, et cetera.
Journeyman is indeed a loss. Glad to see Life is coming back, which I think is a great show that deserves to be back (the last ep of the season was NUTS).
Anyway, welcome back good TV. I might not watch you quite as much now that I've weened myself off a bit, but it's good to have you around again. 8^D
Journeyman was good... it was like a cross between the dead zone (cause he looks like him) and quantum leap.
I too am very disappointed about the cancellation of Journeyman. I like Life and Bionic Woman as well, but I really want to know what the heck was happening to the Journeyman. I really hate this trend of cancelling sci-fi shows without getting to the explanation, or ending with an unresolved cliffhanger (see Surface or Earth 2).
ya, how about scrubs, that show is the balls!! Smalleville and supernatural have been airing new episodes for like the last 3 weeks
Yeah, and this is the very last season of Scrubs. So you just know there will be tons of "On a very special episode of Scrubs..." My wife and I watch an episode pretty much every single night before we go to bed (or something else but that's for another message board).
According to TV Guide, Scubs has 4 episodes shot but that's not enough to wrap up the series, so the creators are trying to figure out what to do -- either get blessing from NBC for 4 more or shoot them for DVD.
I'm just glad Chuck, Heroes (no surprise), and Pushing Daisies are all coming back, even if I'm disappointed that it will take so long.
What about 30 Rock? Anyone heard?
I just got my HDTV last month, so I've seen very few of my favorites in HD quality. Bummer.
They wouldn't cancel 30 Rock... there would be riots in the streets.
That show is awesome... it filled the void that was left by Arrested Development being cancelled.
dont forget about heroes!!! and definitely 30 rock considering the show is about writers lol
Bionic Woman was a poor remake, my wife and I stopped watching it after the 3rd episode.
However, I agree with those above, Journeyman was excellent. I am surprised that NBC took it off the air, figured it was a move more like ABC. Well, ABC would have played more games first, play a new episode, then two repeats, a new episode, then no episodes for 3 weeks, then a special time slot showing, then call it a season. I mean no one knows how to kill a show like ABC.
Anyways, NBC usually gives its shows a chance to find an audience. The only chance now for the show would be for it to do well at an awards show.

There's a reason ABC stands for:
Already
Been
Cancelled
Most any decent show that's aired on that network dies a very young and very gruesome death.
Are you kidding? Fox would have cancelled it after the second episode!
I read that "30 Rock" will have a few more eps this spring.
I was really hoping to get some new episodes of "Chuck", but I'm glad to see they are coming back in the Fall. Now just get the dvd's out pronto.
Grey's, Lost, ER, Office, and Gossip Girl (Guilty pleaseure...plz don't kill me)!

what about desperate housewives or the big bang theory?
This is amazing... Almost all the comments are on how great Journeyman was!
Wake up NBC!

Bring Journeyman back!!!
Is there a larger list of shows that are set to return and not returning?
What about "Viewers Guild of America" ON STRIKE,
Journeyman, journeyman,journeyman!!!!
How the hell can they bring back Carpoolers ( the worst show ever made ) and cancel journeyman ?????
Um, we are talking about two different networks here. Carpoolers (ABC), Journeyman (NBC). Both of them are sub-par shows, imo.
I've heard Friday Night Lights is not coming back. No new episodes. NBC should at least let them shoot 4 or 5 more episodes to wrap the season up. Showing 15 episodes and just leave you hanging is pretty mean. The Networks don't seem to care about their audiences. But I am glad the writers strike is over.
Am I the only person that watched (and will miss) Big Shots?
