Wow Netflick, Walmart and now this I'd hate to be one of the poor guys who bought a HDdvd player. It's going to be the next Betamax.
Well it looks like everyone is getting their knives into the corpse of HD-DVD

I can't help but think about Darth Vader right now sitting in that sphere thingy in the EMPIRE STRIKES BACK (Coming to Blu-RAY soon) talking to the Niveus board on his widescreen TV.

I just hope George Lucas releases all the Indiana Jones trilogy soon on Blu-ray, and re-release the three original soundtracks (those performed by the London Symphonic Orchestra, not that cheap Prague Philarmonic version sold on Amazon) - on SACD! (In addition to the two Star Wars trilogies)
NFINITY is most likely a 'jawa', he's gotta be a very small people who hates everyone who isn't, and where's a cloak all the time to stay hidden and not be noticed by us 'normal people', the cloak would also explain how he escaped the asylum, wouldn't be surprised if TRUTHTELLER was in the cloak also.
Oh is that the company that makes $4000 media center PCs? Oh, what a loss for consumers.. all niche companies.. Harman Kardon, Niveus, Pioneer and similar.. I guess if you want $1000+ players and $4000+ media centers then it's the WAY TO GO..

All the big companies (Best Buy, Wal-Mart, NetFlix, etc...) already ditched HD DVD.
Nfinity if you think this bad news is not mainstream enough for you then I refer you to the recent Best Buy, Netflix and Walmart announcements. Face it little girl, your format is dead.

LOL, today on Fast MOney which is a show on CNBC that gives stock market information and suggestions for buying and selling, even Jeff Macke said " you better buy Blu Ray, HD-DVD is dead!" So yea, its over.

Just because you wouldn't spend that much on a media center don't cast it off. There are people out there who obviously buy these products

Geez Nfinity didn't you hear about the Wal-Mart news? One of the worlds largest retailers dropping HD-DVD. I noticed that you didn't comment on that bit of news - I did, perhaps you could give it a read. Why didn't you comment? Too busy prying your head out of your ass? Even die hard HD-DVD adopters are admitting defeat. Please, grab a bit of reality.
Don't need him to reply. We already know that Walmart is a high-end store with expensive products and they cater to a niche market. Having them drop HD-DVD is not that big of a loss.

The customer is in fact being denied the chance to say a word in this.
Blu-ray are merely trying to exploit a wholly foreseeable initial lead the PS3 has given them to try and lock out the competitor format.
Talk about anti-consumer anti-competitive sharp practice.
If we had a Gov with any nads they'd investigate this; it sure as hell is not going to end up being 'good for the consumer'.
Naturally the blind fanboy element will fail to see this at all and talk about their 'love' for a game console.
Even if the big conspiracy is on, and Sony bought and paid everyone to use their "inferior" format, it doesn't change the fact that HD-DVD is dead. The cause of death is moot, HD-DVD is dead. Ignoring all the other bad news for HD-DVD this month, having Wal-Mart pull HD-DVD is like a lethal injection for HD-DVD.

The customer hasn't said anything. They just bought what they wanted, and they bought more Blu-Ray than HD-DVD. You didn't purchase enough movies, so your format lost. No "conspiracy" here. Didn't you get the memo, "conspiracy" and "rigged" are the words of a raving looney.

TT, your good for the consumer and superior format comments are really ignorant.
The only thing "better" about HD-DVD is that its cheaper. Blu's technical specs are in the worst case equal to HD-DVD and in a few catagories, much better. If companies haven't used those capabilities to the fullest, thats not the fault of the format. 2.0 is better feature wise than HD-DVD and the 1 thing I will give HD-DVD for bing cool on is those few titles that have the DVD version on the flip side but that's a nice to have kinda thing. If you don't believe that the specs are better so therefore the potential is there if used, then look up both specs on their official sites.
Good for the consumer is the stupidest thing i've heard because at the end of the day, the consumers chose to purchase a superior technology with is significantly more future proof just due to 200Gig max capacity (quad layer, which is achievable). No one forced them to pick a side and its only the last 2 months that everyone has dumpped HD-DVD. So the consumer chose quality over value because value will come with mass adoption. So stop trying to be some preacher about doing consumers a favour! In an election, the majority rules and its the same here because the public doesn't want multpile formats to pick from. Get over it and yourself.

HD-DVD could still survive if they courted the Adult Film market and/or pushed the medium as a lower cost computer data storage format.
With BD+ not having been cracked, does it really make sense to buy a media center with Blu-Ray? Its an awfully expensive way to go if all it can do is play pre-recorded disks.
