side note, is this why xbox 360 elites have been mia on store shelves lately? it sems like every one behind the sceens kew about this. are they making a BD version of it? cuz a $450 elete dosent match up to a $400 ps3 feature wise and without a hdm *cough* blu-ray player won't be poised to take over the living room.
what would that have to do with the format war? if somebody wants a game console why would you steer them away from an xbox? the ps3 might be the blu player of choice but there isn't squat for games compared to the 360
I suspect Elites have been in short supply because Microsoft *thought* they were about to launch a new Toshiba branded 360 with a HD DVD and began limiting supply to make space for it. Except, er, it never got launched because of the disaster for HD DVD that was CES. So now there is a shortage of Elites.
