Actually the collapse of HD-DVD could conceivably make Blu-ray LESS of a factor for the PS3, if the pattern follows anything like what happened with DVD and the PS2. Lots of people bought the PS2 as a cheap(ish) DVD player during its first year, but once player prices started falling (which Blu-ray should be able to accomplish now), who used it as a movie player anymore?
