Considering that Charter provides
44 HD options to its Louisiana subscribers, it was about time that Cox Communications did
something to make its lineup look even close to comparable. Thankfully, the cable carrier has finally saw fit to add in nine (unnamed) high-def channels to its Lafayette lineup, and better still, subscribers will also see a boost in internet speeds. The move brings Cox's total HD count in the area to 33, but alas, it won't come free. Oh no, customers can expect programming packages (save for basic cable) to cost around $2 to $3 more per month for the boost in service after April 1st, but there's always satellite if you feel the value's just not there.
Now if they would just add more channels in the Phoenix area.
But here they promote free HD channels so they better not try to pull this crap. I already have to pay for the HD box I better not have to pay more for channels. I would give for 33 HD channels with cox. In the Phoenix area we only have 12 and most of those are local channels so all we get to see is HD newscasts
Except for Fox10, guess they haven't figured HD out yet. Kinda sad when the local family owned channel with no major network affiliations can broadcast their news in HD, but not Fox, lol.
Wow, this made it national.
Bear in mind that we are currently rolling out Fiber to the home as a city entity. http://www.lafayetteprofiber.com/
I'm sure they want to compete, at least a little.
BTW:I saw the trucks rolling for the first time yesterday.
We are going to pay more in phoenix, count on it. I have already received my letter, and that even though we have the most pathetic HD lineup in the valley, our bill is going up $10. There is nothing free about the HD-DVR STB lease fees. I have the phone/internet/HD-DVR package and already pay $150 a month with no premium channels, and they want even more money.
This situation is familiar, as COX is starting to nickel and dime me like Qwest used to before all their customers jumped ship.
