Universal's HD DVD release slate "currently in flux"
Just days after we heard that Warner was soldiering on with its plans to release HD DVDs as scheduled until May 31st, along comes word that Universal may not be following suit. According to a studio representative speaking with HighDefDigest, the outfit's "entire HD DVD slate is currently in flux," which could mean absolutely nothing or that the company won't be dishing out any more red titles whatsoever. 'Course, that leaves certain hits like Charlie Wilson's War up in the air, but hopefully Universal will either get these stragglers out on HD DVD or convert 'em to Blu-ray, at least.

I wonder if "they'll continue to replenish stock if there's demand"... If Warner said they will, it makes sense everyone else will. Companies love loosing money.
PWNED in da grave...
word.
To repeat what I said on another thread...
WTF? And you people tell HD DVD owners that THEY'RE the ones who need to "get over it" and "let it go"?? Sheesh.
the only thing worth having is charlie wilsons war so if their not givin hd dvd owners that well damn considering they've always been red. warner was always neutral and they are still givin hd dvd owners their films till may so wow pretty shitty from them... but oh well the sooner everyone converts the better i think.
I believe Atonement is also Universal. It won Best Movie in the UK and nominated for several Oscar categories as well.
oh i just didnt know sowwie. plus i havent seen it! but yeah it still sucks that theyve been red forever and now their leaving their red people with nothing!
Eh...just remember that most the Red people are either early adopters or (like me) bought into it when it was deeply discounted, so it's likely that for most of us there's no hard feelings...it'd make less sense to keep releasing on HD DVD as it would to put 'em out on VHS for all the VCR owners out there...
Atonement: Great Book, HORRIBLE MOVIE!!!!!
BEAT DAT HORSE TILL IT'S DEADER THAN DEAD!!!! IT AIN'T DEAD ENOUGH YET!!!!!!!
If they keep releasing movies in HD-DVD, then why don't they also continue releasing movies in D-Theater (yes, copy-protected version of Digital VHS)? D-VHS holds almost the same capacity as a 2-layer Blu-ray (50 GB), which means 4 hours in 1080i MPEG-2. Right now I'm watching a D-VHS VCR on eBay with three bundled D-Theater movies.
Actually, D-VHS holds up to 52 GB.
