FOX is getting better at the "Widescreen HD" thing... I did notice on New Amsterdam that it said "High Definition Digital TV" instead of "High Resolution Digital TV"... They may have just changed the name for kicks and it still not be in true HD but I wondered if anyone else noticed that? Still looks decent even if it is not.
You're right, for years they did 480i widescreen...very odd. They marketed it as if it were HD, but the comb filtering artifacts and all that showed through.
I'm very glad to hear that they're actually 720p now.

Dude, it's been like that for years, and yes it is 720p.
