I guess Pioneer's are the in the boat now (at least the Plasmas) as they don't make their own panels anymore and in effect just a front for another OEM.
If I remember correctly they do outsource but are based in California, thus an American company.
Mind has been working fine (42" Plasma) for a year with no problems and have the extra year warranty through my Costco purchase.
