Comcast readies six HD newcomers for Sacramento, California
Not even a week after AT&T announced plans to expand its U-verse service to more homes in Sacramento, along comes Comcast in an attempt to make its offering a bit more attractive. According to a local who reported seeing a new message on the cable box, the aforementioned carrier will be adding Food Network HD, SciFi HD, Discovery HD, TLC HD, USA HD and HGTV HD "on or after March 31st." Three cheers for competition, and three more for expanded lineups.[Thanks, Joe F.]

Sacramento? How about Alameda County? Gimmie sci-fi HD in time for BSG, and fix the DVR service in Fremont already.
Yay! More HD channels in my area is always a great thing. :)
I Second Getting it in Fremont!
I want my scifi HD already,
And when can they get HDNet & FX-HD..
I want those too!
I just ditched Comcast HD. Tired of paying $100/month for cable with no 'premium' channels. Switched to DirecTV. I admit I liked the Comcast DVR better and the OnDemand was better/faster, but at less than 1/2 the price I'll give D* a try for a while.
Wow, you guys are behind. I live in KANSAS for god sakes and we've had all of those channels for months to over a year for a couple of em.
but you live in Kansas. :p
Ha, true, could be worse I suppose. KC metro is a pretty nice place to be if you are a tech geek.
yeah, but its still Kansas... ^_^
I think its a good think that they are adding these channels at the end of the month, as that is when Food Network (and maybe HGtv) will start simulcasting their HD and SD channels. I hate watching something in SD and switching to the HD variant and something completely different is on. MHD needs to start airing all of the shows that Mtv has in HD.
Directv already has MTV HD which is a HD simulcast of MTV although I never see any HD content on it.
Its actually Food Network HD , SciFi HD, ANIMAL Planet HD, TLC HD, AMC HD and CNN HD.
Thats what the message said in Sacramento.
Comcast sent a postcard in the mail as well. The post card said that they could add up to 8 new HD channels.
"We will be adding up to 8 new high-definition channels, including Home & Garden, USA, Discovery and Sci-Fi."
The front of the card says "Enjoy More HD Channels March 31st!" "See more. Hear More. Experience more with HDTV from Comcast."
The funny thing is they say "up to" 8 new channels and they only mention 4 on the post card. The other funny thing is we already have Discovery HD Theater here in Sacramento on Comcast.
@Myself
The MTV HD that airs on Comcast here in Sacramento is not a simulcast of the regular MTV. The MTV HD that Comcast airs is all unique HD content all the time.
Come on COMCAST customers! Demand they add HDNet and HDNet Movies. Far and away better than the stretch-o-vision crap channels Comcast has BEEN adding all across the country.
