PS3 2.20 update is out, get your BD-Live while it's fresh
Nothing beats that straight-from-the-oven firmware smell, and Sony just hit the internet with its PS3 2.20 firmware update goodness. The big win here is BD-Live interactive Blu-ray compatibility (Blu-ray 2.0), but there are some other minor tweaks as well, mostly multimedia and web browsing related. Unfortunately, portable copy didn't make the cut, but there's always 2.30, right?[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]

theres definetly a tortise and the hare reference to be made her considering HD-DVD had all o' dis from day one, im not going to make it though cause im obviously an HD-DVD fan.
Yes hd-dvd had this from day one. Believe me, all blu-ray fans are well aware of it, and if we weren't, there were always some fanboys to remind us. It never bothered me though, because I mainly want the movie with the best picture and sound, and that made me happy. I am, however excited for the update to be able to play all of the coming discs with bd-live features. I hope they do more intuitive things, some of the ones I saw with hd-dvd over at a friends house were pretty poor excuses for internet extras. I rmember one on Chuck and Larry where you can shop for items from Universal. Guess I prefer me computer for shopping.
While I am excited about this update, I am disappointed they didn't include an upgrade for DTS MA decoding.
Don't talk nonsense. HD DVD's features pale in comparison to what BD-J can do.
You know the difference between scripting and full Java right???
Just curious: Is there a Blu title available now that can take advantage of the new features?
I believe there are several from Lionsgate and several from Sony coming in the next few weeks......and there are a few others, though I can't remember what they were.
The Lionsgate ones are out now, I think the new SAW movies is one of them.
Welcome to 2006.
I could give a shit less about 2.0; give us DTS MA... There are lots of BD's with DTS MA.... Also is there any real proof that the PS3 is unable to bit stream HD audio. Or is this just a rumor? I understand that it can't do it right now(the horse is dead). I just can't find any real proof that the HDMI port in the PS3 in unable to send HD audio. Any help would be great, thanks.
I've never seen any statement from Sony. The rumor is that the chip in the PS3 is unable to bitstream DTS HD, a newer version was made that can do it but this isn't in the unit. Hence why the PS3 needs to do the decoding internally and output PCM through the HDMI socket
Internal decoding of DTS-HD Master Audio is fine.
Sony: Please!
The one and only thing that could make me buy a PS3 is MythTV. I am a casual gamer who watches a lot of TV. So I purchased a couple 360's becuase they served as Media Center Front ends. Well MCE like all Windows Products has started to really suck and with all the windows crashes, I am missing the old MythTV Days.
