I bought my 46 inch TV on sale at Best Buy because of the 30 day return policy in case I didn't like the way it worked with my system. I'm not paying for return shipping or restocking fees on a hundred pound box just to save 150 bucks online.
Small items online? Sure. Large heavy items? Its just not worth it to me.
